The West Virginia State Police Dodge Daytona

In 1987, Dodge/Chrysler/Plymouth was looking for a replacement for the Dodge Diplomat and Plymouth Gran Fury which were scheduled to be discontinued in 1989. The 1980’s saw the introduction of the police Ford Mustang, and Dodge/Chrysler/Plymouth no doubt saw a potential opportunity. They sold the West Virginia State Police (WVSP) two 1987 Dodge Dayton’s (powered by the 2.5L turbo) for $1.00 each. Both cars were marked, but only one had a Whelen lightbar. The other most likely used a blue strobe light in the windshield. When the WVSP was finished with the cars, they were both sold back to the manufacturing for the original $2.00 cost.
