I thought I would share a few photos of the vehicles I used over the years while on duty. I did the designs and applied the graphics to these vehicles over the years as well.

What lights are cut into the Streethawk speaker grills on the Suburban and K-9 unit?

Our department used the 3M Opticom traffic interrupter system to change red lights to green for emergency vehicles on a Code 3 run. The strobe light on the squad car flashes at a specific frequency that activates the traffic signal. The 3M system used a large strobe light enclosed in a large metal box that was mounted on the roof or behind the front grill. They worked well, but were somewhat cumbersome. Tomar developed a set of dual strobes bulbs that were able to flash at the same frequency as the 3M Strobe. So we adopted the Tomar lights and were able to mount them in the light bar to make it streamline. It worked well, but did not have the same activation distance as the 3M strobes.
