Imagine it’s 1986, you’re a Trooper with the Florida State Highway Patrol, and you’re getting paid to chase down violators in this two-door V8 powered SSP Ford Mustang hotrod. You see someone flying northbound on the interstate, so you hit the clutch and drop into the median. As you come out into the northbound lane you drop the clutch, spin around, spin the tires, and start working your way through the manual gearbox to catch your target. Traffic has already started moving out of the left lane because they know you’re coming, and they know who you’re after. You blow past cars like they’re standing still. It’s a game of cat and mouse, and you’re about to pounce on the mouse.
The Florida Highway Patrol bought 147 SSP Ford Mustangs in 1986, and this is one of them. Imagine how fun thy were to drive.
On the inside you’ll find a Kustom Signal RADAR, Whelen siren, Micor 800 MHZ radio, and a Federal Signal JSS switch box that controls the Federal Signal Jetsonic lightbar on the roof.
This Mustang is no longer in use by the Florida Highway Patrol, but someone had enough respect for its history to preserve it by restoring this car.
