1971 Plymouth Satellite Police Tribute Vehicle
This 1971 Plymouth Satellite was acquired in 2006 by a college shop teacher from the reported original owner and underwent a complete refurbishment in the style of a police vehicle for their local city. The seller supervised the restoration, which included bodywork, paint, and interior updates, and later acquired the vehicle from the city in 2023. The car is finished in white with replacement blue vinyl upholstery, and is powered by a 318ci V8 paired with a three-speed automatic transmission.
Key features include a front push bar, a fully functioning siren, roof-mounted emergency lights, spotlights, a prop Motorola speaker, and a Teco Radar I system. It also features power steering, 15” white steel wheels, power front disc brakes, and a dual exhaust system. This Satellite is now offered with police equipment, “E” license plates, magnetic door stars, and a clean California title in the seller’s name.
Exterior:
The Satellite’s body was repainted in white around 2006, and the bumpers were rechromed at the same time. Notable exterior details include a front push bar, chrome bumpers, roof-mounted emergency lights, a functioning siren, and spotlights. Magnetic door stars complete the police vehicle appearance. The car sits on white 15” steel wheels with bright hubcaps, mounted with 215/75 All Season tires.
Interior:
Inside, the front and rear bench seats were retrimmed in blue vinyl upholstery, which is matched by the color-coordinated dashboard and door panels. The dashboard and door panels are accented with woodgrain trim, and the interior is equipped with a Motorola speaker, a Teco Radar I system, and hand controls for the spotlights. The air conditioning and radio are currently inoperable. The car features a blue three-spoke steering wheel and a 150-mph speedometer, accompanied by auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 10k miles, with fewer than 100 miles added by the current seller. The total mileage is unknown.
Powertrain:
Under the hood, the 318ci V8 engine is finished in blue and equipped with a two-barrel carburetor. The engine is said to have been rebuilt by a college automotive class under prior ownership. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a Torqueflite three-speed automatic transmission.
This 1971 Plymouth Satellite is a unique piece of automotive history, combining classic styling with functional police tribute equipment. It’s ready to be shown off, whether at local car meets or as part of a collection.
